ⓘ Circulating · Total supply · Max supply
Circulating supply: coins currently available to trade, as reported by the data provider.
Total supply: coins created so far, minus any burned. It includes locked or not-yet-released coins.
Max supply: the hard cap on coins that can ever exist. Shown as “No max supply” when the protocol sets no cap.
CryptoWave Health score
Five measurable signals. Each ring segment’s length is its weight; how full it is shows the score.
Volume is 3.98% of market cap. Normal turnover for its size.
$935.29M market cap, rank #80. Bigger is harder to push around.
100% of the total supply circulates. Little dilution ahead.
93.2% below its all-time high of $1.29.
Largest recent swing: 2.57% a day. Moderate.
Describes market structure today. Not a price forecast and not investment advice.
How this score is calculated
A weighted average of five signals computed from the market data on this page. Each signal is scored from 0 to 100:
- Liquidity (25%): 24-hour trading volume divided by market cap.
- Market depth (25%): market cap, on a logarithmic scale from $10 million to $1 trillion.
- Supply (15%): circulating supply divided by max supply, or by total supply when there is no cap. More supply already in circulation scores higher.
- Distance from peak (15%): the current price compared with the all-time high.
- Stability (20%): the largest recent price swing among the 1-hour move (×3), the 24-hour move and the 7-day move (÷2.6).
Bands: 75 and above strong, 55–74 fair, 35–54 weak, below 35 fragile.
Limits: the score describes current market structure only. It is not a price forecast, an audit or investment advice, and it does not consider the team, code or token unlocks. A missing input counts as a neutral 50.

What is POL (ex-MATIC)?
POL is the native token of the Polygon ecosystem and the successor to MATIC. Polygon Labs completed the upgrade from MATIC to POL on 4 September 2024 as part of the shift to Polygon 2.0. POL is the gas and staking token on the Polygon proof-of-stake chain, and it is meant to secure and coordinate a wider network of connected chains linked through the AggLayer.
What POL is used for
- Paying gas fees on Polygon PoS
- Staking to secure the network and earn validator rewards
- Serving as a single token that can support multiple Polygon chains
- Funding the community treasury through emissions
- Bridging between Ethereum and Polygon, where the bridge delivers native POL
Holders with MATIC on the Polygon PoS chain were converted automatically, while MATIC on Ethereum, on Polygon zkEVM and on exchanges needed manual migration. There is no deadline for upgrading. POL uses the same ERC-20 interface as MATIC, so most applications needed few changes, although contracts that expect MATIC from the bridge had to be updated.
POL supply and token design
POL started with a supply of 10 billion tokens, matching MATIC one to one at migration. The migration contract holds the MATIC it receives rather than burning it. Polygon documents an ongoing emission of about 2% a year, split evenly between validator rewards and a community treasury. Governance can adjust the emission rate through the emission manager contract, but the contract has a cap on how fast tokens can be minted. Because POL is inflationary, it does not have a fixed maximum supply. Migration was also designed to allow converting POL back to MATIC if governance enables it. Live circulating supply is shown in the market data on this page.
Official information is on polygon.technology.
What to check before using POL
- Inflation: new POL is minted every year, which dilutes holders who do not stake.
- Token mix-ups: MATIC and POL are both seen on exchanges and wallets, so confirm which token and which network you hold.
- Migration scams: the upgrade attracted fake migration sites, so use only links from official Polygon documentation.
- Governance changes: emission and treasury rules can be changed through the governance process.
- Staking risk: validators can be penalized for misbehavior, and delegators share some of that risk.
- Roadmap dependence: the AggLayer vision of many connected chains is still being built, and POL demand depends on how many chains adopt it.

POL (ex-MATIC) market analysis
With a market capitalisation of $935.29 million, POL (ex-MATIC) (POL) is classed as a small-cap asset and ranks #80 of 1,340 cryptocurrencies with a reported market cap on CryptoWave, larger than about 94.0% of them. It accounts for roughly 0.03% of the combined tracked market value. Small-cap assets can move quickly on news or exchange listings, and liquidity can thin out fast in sell-offs.
Over the last 24 hours roughly $37.24 million of POL changed hands, equal to 3.98% of its market cap, which puts its trading volume ahead of about 94.7% of tracked assets. That is a moderate, fairly typical level of turnover. Its turnover ratio is higher than that of about 49% of tracked assets.
Price action: POL moved −2.57% in 24 hours and −2.67% over 7 days. It underperformed Bitcoin by 0.36 percentage points over 24 hours but outperformed it by 1.46 points over 7 days. Against the median tracked coin (behind by 0.29 points on the day and ahead by 3.55 points on the week), it has been a relative strength in recent sessions.
To overtake mETH (METH) just above it, POL (ex-MATIC) would need to grow its market cap by about 0.7%; it is 6.3% larger than Open USD (OUSD) just below. Its market cap is 0.06% of Bitcoin's.

POL replaced MATIC at a one-to-one rate. It adds an emission model, with validator rewards and a community treasury, and is designed to support multiple Polygon chains.
How many POL are there?
POL started at 10 billion tokens, matching the MATIC supply. It has an ongoing emission of about 2% a year, so the supply is not capped.
Who created POL?
