Why check an exchange’s status
Crypto exchanges close, merge, rebrand or stop serving some countries more often than most people expect. Sending coins to an exchange that has stopped operating can mean losing them, so it is worth checking first.
This page compares every exchange in our directory with live market data. An exchange marked active is still reporting trades today. Each dot in the field at the top is one exchange, so you can see at a glance how much of the list is still running.
Where available, you also see the trust score from a major market-data aggregator, the year the exchange was founded and its trading volume. A high trust score usually means deep order books and reliable reporting; it does not guarantee that funds are safe.
Before you deposit
- Check the exchange is active and type its web address yourself rather than following links from messages.
- Look for proof-of-reserves reports and clear withdrawal rules.
- Only keep on an exchange what you are actively trading; move the rest to a wallet you control.
