Crypto profit calculator: your profit, ROI and break-even price

Enter how much you invested and what you paid, or just the day you bought. The calculator shows your profit or loss after trading fees, your return on investment and the sell price you need to break even.

Your trade

Profit / loss—After buy and sell fees
Return on investment—Profit divided by the amount invested
Break-even price—Sell price that covers both fees
Value when sold—What you receive after the sell fee
Coins bought—
Fees paid—

How the calculator works

The trading fee is taken when you buy and again when you sell. Coins bought = amount × (1 − fee) ÷ buy price. Value when sold = coins × sell price × (1 − fee). Profit = value when sold − amount invested, and ROI = profit ÷ amount invested × 100.

The break-even price is the sell price at which you get back exactly what you put in: buy price ÷ (1 − fee)². In "Buy date" and "What if" modes the buy price is that day's closing price in US dollars, and the sell price starts at the live price, which you can change.

Worked example

You invest $1,000 at a buy price of $50,000 and pay a 0.1% fee on each trade. You receive 0.01998 coins ($999 ÷ $50,000). If you sell at $60,000, you get $1,197.60 after the sell fee. Your profit is $197.60, your ROI is 19.76%, and your break-even price is $50,100.15.

Frequently asked questions

How do I calculate my crypto profit?

Multiply the coins you hold by the sell price, take off the sell fee, then subtract what you invested. For example, $1,000 invested at $50,000 with a 0.1% fee per trade buys 0.01998 coins; selling at $60,000 returns $1,197.60, a profit of $197.60 or 19.76%.

What is a break-even price in crypto?

It is the sell price at which you get back exactly the amount you invested once both trading fees are paid. With a fee of f on each trade it equals the buy price ÷ (1 − f)², so a 0.1% fee puts break-even about 0.2% above your buy price.

How does the "what if I had invested" mode work?

Pick a coin, an amount and a past date. The calculator looks up that day's closing price in US dollars, works out how many coins the amount would have bought after the fee, and values them at the live price today.

Does the result include taxes?

No. It includes the trading fee you enter on the buy and on the sell, but not taxes, network or withdrawal fees, or slippage. Tax rules depend on where you live, so check them separately.

Good to know

The calculator does arithmetic on the numbers you enter. It doesn't predict prices and isn't investment or tax advice. Results leave out taxes, network and withdrawal fees and slippage, and daily closing prices can differ from the price you actually paid.
