ⓘ Circulating · Total supply · Max supply
Circulating supply: coins currently available to trade, as reported by the data provider.
Total supply: coins created so far, minus any burned. It includes locked or not-yet-released coins.
Max supply: the hard cap on coins that can ever exist. Shown as “No max supply” when the protocol sets no cap.
CryptoWave Health score
Five measurable signals. Each ring segment’s length is its weight; how full it is shows the score.
Volume is 3.17% of market cap. Normal turnover for its size.
$2.62B market cap, rank #39. Bigger is harder to push around.
56% of the maximum supply circulates. Little dilution ahead.
70.4% below its all-time high of $757.60.
Largest recent swing: 4.17% a day. Moderate.
Describes market structure today. Not a price forecast and not investment advice.
How this score is calculated
A weighted average of five signals computed from the market data on this page. Each signal is scored from 0 to 100:
- Liquidity (25%): 24-hour trading volume divided by market cap.
- Market depth (25%): market cap, on a logarithmic scale from $10 million to $1 trillion.
- Supply (15%): circulating supply divided by max supply, or by total supply when there is no cap. More supply already in circulation scores higher.
- Distance from peak (15%): the current price compared with the all-time high.
- Stability (20%): the largest recent price swing among the 1-hour move (×3), the 24-hour move and the 7-day move (÷2.6).
Bands: 75 and above strong, 55–74 fair, 35–54 weak, below 35 fragile.
Limits: the score describes current market structure only. It is not a price forecast, an audit or investment advice, and it does not consider the team, code or token unlocks. A missing input counts as a neutral 50.

What is Bittensor (TAO)?
Bittensor is an open network built around independent subnets, each of which produces a digital commodity such as compute, inference, storage or prediction. TAO is the network's native token. The chain pays participants in TAO according to the value they add, which turns machine learning and other AI work into something that can be rewarded without a central company deciding who gets paid.
How Bittensor works
Each subnet has its own task and its own incentive rules. Four roles keep it running:
- Miners produce the work the subnet asks for.
- Validators score the miners' output.
- Subnet creators define the incentive mechanism that governs the subnet.
- Stakers back validators with TAO and share in the rewards.
With the dynamic TAO upgrade, each subnet has its own token, known as alpha, and the share of new TAO a subnet receives is tied to how the market values that subnet. This makes subnets compete for emissions and for stakers' attention.
TAO supply and token design
TAO follows a Bitcoin-style schedule with a maximum supply of 21 million tokens. New TAO is issued continuously as network rewards, and the issuance rate is cut in half at regular intervals. The first halving took place in December 2025 and reduced daily issuance from 7,200 TAO to 3,600 TAO. Further halvings follow over a multi-year cycle, so emissions keep falling while the cap stays fixed. Live circulating supply is shown in the market data on this page.
Bittensor runs on its own layer one chain, and the network can be explored through its block explorer and the staking tools listed on the official site.
Official information is on bittensor.com.
What to check before using TAO
- Subnet quality varies widely. Rewards are paid for scoring well under a subnet's rules, which does not guarantee the work is useful outside the network.
- Staking exposes you to validator and subnet performance. Choosing a validator or subnet poorly can reduce returns, and alpha tokens can be more volatile than TAO.
- Issuance falls with each halving, so reward levels today are not a guide to future rewards.
- The network is still evolving, and protocol upgrades such as the move to subnet tokens have changed how emissions are split.
- Only use official wallets and staking tools. Phishing sites imitating Bittensor interfaces target stakers.

Bittensor market analysis
With a market capitalisation of $2.62 billion, Bittensor (TAO) is classed as a mid-cap asset and ranks #39 of 1,342 cryptocurrencies with a reported market cap on CryptoWave, larger than about 97.1% of them. It accounts for roughly 0.10% of the combined tracked market value. Mid-cap assets sit between the established majors and the speculative long tail, so both growth and drawdowns can be sharp.
Over the last 24 hours roughly $83.09 million of TAO changed hands, equal to 3.17% of its market cap, which puts its trading volume ahead of about 96.7% of tracked assets. That is a moderate, fairly typical level of turnover. Its turnover ratio is higher than that of about 43% of tracked assets.
Price action: TAO moved −3.74% in 24 hours and −10.85% over 7 days. It underperformed Bitcoin by 2.04 percentage points over 24 hours and by 7.00 points over 7 days. Against the median tracked coin (behind by 1.62 points on the day and behind by 4.72 points on the week), it has been a relative laggard in recent sessions.
To overtake Shiba Inu (SHIB) just above it, Bittensor would need to grow its market cap by about 2.7%; it is 2.2% larger than Ripple USD (RLUSD) just below. Its market cap is 0.17% of Bitcoin's.

Bittensor FAQ
What is Bittensor (TAO)?
Bittensor is a network of subnets that each produce a digital commodity such as compute or inference. TAO is the token used to reward miners, validators and stakers.
How many TAO will there be?
TAO has a maximum supply of 21 million tokens. Issuance is halved at regular intervals, and the first halving happened in December 2025.
What is TAO used for?
TAO is paid as a reward for useful work on the network and is staked to back validators. It also underpins the subnet token system.
What is a Bittensor subnet?
A subnet is a separate marketplace on Bittensor with its own task. Miners compete to produce work, and validators score it.
