What is Tellor (TRB)?
Tellor is a decentralized oracle network. An oracle delivers outside data, such as asset prices, to blockchains, because smart contracts cannot fetch it themselves. Tellor relies on staked reporters who submit values for data requests, with economic penalties for bad reports rather than a fixed set of approved data providers. TRB is its native token.
Tellor first launched on Ethereum in 2019. In 2025 the project introduced Tellor Layer, a dedicated Layer 1 chain, with chain ID tellor-1, built for reaching consensus on oracle data. Anyone can join the network by bridging and staking TRB, which exists as an ERC-20 token.
How Tellor works
On Tellor Layer, reporters pull data from the internet or other real-world sources and submit values. The values are aggregated and checked through onchain consensus, and validators sign the aggregated results before they are relayed to other chains. The validator set is capped at 100.
- Staking: TRB is the staking asset required to report or validate.
- Rewards: reporters earn TRB for submitting data.
- Disputes and slashing: reported values can be disputed, and stake can be slashed for dishonest or careless reporting.
- Delegation: holders can delegate TRB to validators and reporters to share in rewards.
TRB supply and token design
TRB has no fixed maximum supply. New TRB is issued as rewards for network participants, so supply grows over time at a rate set by the protocol. Live circulating supply is shown in the market data on this page.
TRB is an ERC-20 token on Ethereum, and bridged versions exist on other networks. The Ethereum contract is 0x88df592f8eb5d7bd38bfef7deb0fbc02cf3778a0, and checking addresses before swaps matters because many wrapped or copied tokens carry similar names.

- Oracle risk: a manipulated or delayed data feed can harm any protocol that depends on it. Check which data feeds an integration actually uses.
- Dispute outcomes depend on honest token holders taking part, so security is only as strong as the incentives behind staking and slashing.
- Bridging TRB between Ethereum and Tellor Layer adds bridge and contract risk. Use only official bridge interfaces.
- Rewards are paid in newly issued TRB, so holders who do not stake or delegate may see their share of supply diluted.
- Several tokens share Tellor's name on different chains. Confirm the contract address and network before sending funds.
