How this score is calculated

A weighted average of five signals computed from the market data on this page. Each signal is scored from 0 to 100:

  • Liquidity (25%): 24-hour trading volume divided by market cap.
  • Market depth (25%): market cap, on a logarithmic scale from $10 million to $1 trillion.
  • Supply (15%): circulating supply divided by max supply, or by total supply when there is no cap. More supply already in circulation scores higher.
  • Distance from peak (15%): the current price compared with the all-time high.
  • Stability (20%): the largest recent price swing among the 1-hour move (×3), the 24-hour move and the 7-day move (÷2.6).

Bands: 75 and above strong, 55–74 fair, 35–54 weak, below 35 fragile.

Limits: the score describes current market structure only. It is not a price forecast, an audit or investment advice, and it does not consider the team, code or token unlocks. A missing input counts as a neutral 50.

About Amp

What is Amp (AMP)?

Amp (AMP) is a collateral token on Ethereum. It was created by Flexa, the payments company behind a network that lets merchants accept digital assets with instant, final confirmation, and was built in collaboration with ConsenSys. AMP debuted on Ethereum in September 2020 and replaced the earlier Flexacoin (FXC) token, which holders could migrate to AMP at a fixed 1:1 rate.

The idea is simple. When a payment is sent over a slow-settling network, the recipient wants certainty now rather than after the underlying transfer completes. AMP is locked as collateral against that payment while it settles, and it is released for reuse once settlement finishes.

How Amp works

Amp is an ERC-20 token with an added feature called partitions. Partitions work like separate spaces inside the same token contract, so different collateral managers can enforce their own rules on the same address without the owner moving tokens into a separate smart contract. A collateral manager acts like an escrow account with customizable rules, and anyone can create one.

  • Payment collateral: apps that integrate Flexa pool AMP so payments to merchants can be accepted in real time, whatever asset or protocol the customer pays with.
  • Staking-style pooling: holders can commit AMP to a collateral manager and keep it in their own address.
  • Developer use: third parties can build their own collateral managers for other settlement or credit use cases.

AMP supply and token design

AMP was minted only by burning Flexacoin at a perpetual 1:1 rate, so its supply was set by the Flexacoin migration rather than by mining or an ongoing emission schedule. The token uses 18 decimals. Live circulating supply is shown in the market data on this page.

The official Ethereum contract is 0xff20817765cb7f73d4bde2e66e067e58d11095c2. Always check this address before buying or approving a token, because lookalike contracts with similar names exist for many tokens.

Official information is on amp.xyz.

What to check before using AMP

  • Demand for AMP is tied to how much the Flexa network and its integrations use it as collateral, so adoption by apps matters more than general market sentiment.
  • Pooled collateral sits under the rules of a collateral manager. Read those rules before committing tokens, since they define when your AMP is locked and released.
  • AMP lives on Ethereum, so transfers and approvals pay Ethereum network fees and carry smart contract risk.
  • Bridged or wrapped versions on other networks are separate tokens with their own contracts and bridge risks.
  • Price can swing sharply, and the token has a very large unit supply, so small per-token prices do not mean low value per holder.

Amp market analysis

With a market capitalisation of $54.69 million, Amp (AMP) is classed as a micro-cap asset and ranks #324 of 406 cryptocurrencies with a reported market cap on CryptoWave, larger than about 20.2% of them. It accounts for roughly under 0.01% of the combined tracked market value. Micro-cap assets are thinly traded in most cases: a modest order can move the price and spreads are often wide.

Over the last 24 hours roughly $2.60 million of AMP changed hands, equal to 4.76% of its market cap, which puts its trading volume ahead of about 44.1% of tracked assets. That is a moderate, fairly typical level of turnover. Its turnover ratio is higher than that of about 70% of tracked assets.

Price action: AMP moved −3.09% in 24 hours and −8.29% over 7 days. It underperformed Bitcoin by 0.91 percentage points over 24 hours and by 4.70 points over 7 days. Against the median tracked coin (behind by 1.09 points on the day and behind by 3.79 points on the week), it has been a relative laggard in recent sessions.

To overtake Banana For Scale (BANANAS31) just above it, Amp would need to grow its market cap by about 1.9%; it is 0.9% larger than EXOD (EXOD) just below. Its market cap is under 0.01% of Bitcoin's.

Amp FAQ

What is Amp (AMP)?

Amp is an Ethereum token built by Flexa to act as collateral. It is held in escrow by a collateral manager while a payment settles, which lets recipients such as merchants treat the payment as final straight away.

Who created Amp?

Amp was developed by Flexa together with ConsenSys and debuted on Ethereum in September 2020. Holders of the earlier Flexacoin (FXC) could migrate to AMP at a fixed 1:1 rate.

What is AMP used for?

AMP is pooled as collateral by apps and wallets that use the Flexa payment network, so payments can be accepted instantly before the underlying asset finishes settling. Anyone can also create a collateral manager with their own rules.

How many AMP tokens are there?

AMP was minted only by burning Flexacoin at 1:1, so its supply follows that migration. Live circulating supply is shown in the market data on this page.
