What is Nexpace (NXPC)?
NXPC is the token of MapleStory Universe, a blockchain ecosystem built around the long-running MapleStory game franchise. It is issued by NEXPACE, an Abu Dhabi-based blockchain company that operates as a Web3 initiative backed by Nexon, the game's publisher. NEXPACE unveiled the token in August 2024. NXPC launched alongside the game MapleStory N on 15 May 2025 and listed on several large exchanges the same day. It is not a space-industry token despite what the name might suggest.
What NXPC is used for
NXPC is the economic unit of the MapleStory Universe (MSU). Its documented roles include:
- Fusion and Fission: players can redeem NXPC for collections of NFTs (Fission) and exchange collections of NFTs back into NXPC (Fusion). The project says this loop is designed to keep supply and item creation balanced.
- Contributor rewards: NXPC funds rewards for builders and creators who make content for the ecosystem, including through apps the project calls Synergy Apps.
- In-game economy: MapleStory N combines the classic 2D game, which is about 23 years old as a franchise, with NFTs, onchain items and open marketplaces. It is live on PC.
MSU runs on a custom layer-1 chain built on Avalanche technology and powered by AvaCloud.
NXPC supply and token design
NXPC is a game-economy token rather than a general payment currency. The project says its design is meant to let community contributors take part in creating in-game items, a role traditionally held by the game publisher. Demand is tied to activity in MapleStory N and related apps, and the Fusion and Fission mechanism links it to NFT collections. Because the token is tied to an operating company and a game ecosystem, tokenomics such as emissions, unlocks and reward programmes are set by the project and can change as the game develops.
