ⓘ Circulating · Total supply · Max supply
Circulating supply: coins currently available to trade, as reported by the data provider.
Total supply: coins created so far, minus any burned. It includes locked or not-yet-released coins.
Max supply: the hard cap on coins that can ever exist. Shown as “No max supply” when the protocol sets no cap.
CryptoWave Health score
Five measurable signals. Each ring segment’s length is its weight; how full it is shows the score.
Volume is 11.90% of market cap. Trades easily.
$5.04B market cap, rank #21. Bigger is harder to push around.
100% of the total supply circulates. Little dilution ahead.
81.2% below its all-time high of $20.44.
Largest recent swing: 10.31% a day. Volatile.
Describes market structure today. Not a price forecast and not investment advice.
How this score is calculated
A weighted average of five signals computed from the market data on this page. Each signal is scored from 0 to 100:
- Liquidity (25%): 24-hour trading volume divided by market cap.
- Market depth (25%): market cap, on a logarithmic scale from $10 million to $1 trillion.
- Supply (15%): circulating supply divided by max supply, or by total supply when there is no cap. More supply already in circulation scores higher.
- Distance from peak (15%): the current price compared with the all-time high.
- Stability (20%): the largest recent price swing among the 1-hour move (×3), the 24-hour move and the 7-day move (÷2.6).
Bands: 75 and above strong, 55–74 fair, 35–54 weak, below 35 fragile.
Limits: the score describes current market structure only. It is not a price forecast, an audit or investment advice, and it does not consider the team, code or token unlocks. A missing input counts as a neutral 50.

What is NEAR Protocol (NEAR)?
NEAR Protocol is a proof-of-stake layer 1 blockchain for decentralized applications, with NEAR as its native token. It was co-founded by Illia Polosukhin and Alexander Skidanov. Its mainnet began in April 2020 in a restricted phase, with genesis on 22 April 2020 and an initial supply of 1 billion NEAR. Today NEAR presents itself as open infrastructure for an agent economy, and it combines the base chain with services for cross-chain activity and AI.
How NEAR works
NEAR's scaling design is called Nightshade, a form of sharding. Instead of every validator processing every transaction, the network is split into shards, each of which produces a chunk of every block, and the chunks together make up the full block. This lets capacity grow as the network adds shards.
NEAR is used for several things:
- Gas and storage. Transaction fees and on-chain storage are paid in NEAR.
- Staking. Validators secure the network and earn rewards in NEAR, and token holders can delegate.
- NEAR Intents for cross-chain execution across many networks.
- NEAR AI for private inference and agent tooling.
Because NEAR works across many networks through NEAR Intents, activity on the chain can include assets and actions that originate elsewhere. The project says it delivers 600 millisecond blocks and 1.2 second finality on its settlement layer.
NEAR supply and token design
NEAR has no fixed maximum supply. New tokens are issued to pay validators, and a portion of transaction fees is burned, which offsets part of that issuance. Check the protocol documentation for the current issuance rate, since it has been revised over time. Live circulating supply is shown in the market data on this page.
NEAR is a native coin on its own chain and does not have a single token contract.
Official information is on near.org.
What to check before using NEAR
- NEAR's supply is not capped, so inflation from staking rewards dilutes holders who do not stake.
- Competition among layer 1 networks is strong, and developer and user activity can shift quickly.
- Newer products such as intents and AI agents are fast-moving, so check each product's maturity and audits.
- Staking locks funds for an unbonding period and depends on the validator you choose.
- Self-custody applies on NEAR as everywhere else. Keep your recovery phrase offline and review every permission before approving an app.

NEAR Protocol market analysis
With a market capitalisation of $5.04 billion, NEAR Protocol (NEAR) is classed as a mid-cap asset and ranks #21 of 1,342 cryptocurrencies with a reported market cap on CryptoWave, larger than about 98.4% of them. It accounts for roughly 0.19% of the combined tracked market value. Mid-cap assets sit between the established majors and the speculative long tail, so both growth and drawdowns can be sharp.
Over the last 24 hours roughly $599.66 million of NEAR changed hands, equal to 11.90% of its market cap, which puts its trading volume ahead of about 99.3% of tracked assets. That is an active level of turnover for an asset of this size. Its turnover ratio is higher than that of about 72% of tracked assets.
Price action: NEAR moved −10.31% in 24 hours and −13.97% over 7 days. It underperformed Bitcoin by 8.61 percentage points over 24 hours and by 10.12 points over 7 days. Against the median tracked coin (behind by 8.19 points on the day and behind by 7.84 points on the week), it has been a relative laggard in recent sessions.
To overtake Bitcoin Cash (BCH) just above it, NEAR Protocol would need to grow its market cap by about 10.8%; it is 4.8% larger than Rain (RAIN) just below. Its market cap is 0.33% of Bitcoin's.

NEAR Protocol FAQ
What is NEAR Protocol?
NEAR is a proof-of-stake layer 1 blockchain that uses sharding to scale and has NEAR as its native token.
Who created NEAR Protocol?
Illia Polosukhin and Alexander Skidanov co-founded it. The mainnet began in April 2020.
What is NEAR used for?
NEAR pays for transaction fees and storage and is staked by validators and delegators to secure the network.
Is there a maximum supply of NEAR?
No. NEAR has no fixed cap. It started at 1 billion in 2020, and new issuance for validators is partly offset by fee burns.
