What is Genius (GENIUS)?
GENIUS is the token of Genius Terminal, a trading terminal for on-chain markets. Genius describes the product as a private onchain terminal for professional users who want DeFi access without a DeFi-style interface. It is backed by YZi Labs, formerly Binance Labs, and Binance co-founder Changpeng Zhao is listed as an advisor.
Some earlier listings describe GENIUS as a platform for sharing and monetizing knowledge. That is incorrect. The project is a trading product.
What Genius Terminal does
The project's documentation lists these features:
- Unified perpetual markets, with trading across Hyperliquid from one screen.
- Real-time market data such as funding rates, liquidity heatmaps and holder data.
- Pre-launch token access before tokens are listed.
- Atomic routing, so balances held on several chains can be used as one.
- Yield on a dollar asset called usdGG, shown in the same dashboard.
The GENIUS token sits alongside this product. The published documentation centers on rewards and distribution rather than on defining what the token must be used for. Genius states an ambition to bring most of DeFi onto BNB Chain and beyond.
GENIUS supply and token design
The maximum supply is 1 billion GENIUS, and the token contract is on BNB Chain. Live circulating supply is shown in the market data on this page. Distribution included a Binance HODLer Airdrop of 10 million tokens to eligible BNB holders in May 2026.
Genius also ran a Season 1 airdrop of 70 million tokens through the Genius Foundation. Claimants had a seven-day window. Claiming early burned 70% of the allocation, and leaving it untouched locked the full amount for one year. A refund route let users burn their allocation in exchange for a share of collected terminal fees, claimable for 48 hours after the token launch. The design discourages quick selling by making early exits costly, though it also means locked tokens return to the market after a year.
