How this score is calculated

A weighted average of five signals computed from the market data on this page. Each signal is scored from 0 to 100:

  • Liquidity (25%): 24-hour trading volume divided by market cap.
  • Market depth (25%): market cap, on a logarithmic scale from $10 million to $1 trillion.
  • Supply (15%): circulating supply divided by max supply, or by total supply when there is no cap. More supply already in circulation scores higher.
  • Distance from peak (15%): the current price compared with the all-time high.
  • Stability (20%): the largest recent price swing among the 1-hour move (×3), the 24-hour move and the 7-day move (÷2.6).

Bands: 75 and above strong, 55–74 fair, 35–54 weak, below 35 fragile.

Limits: the score describes current market structure only. It is not a price forecast, an audit or investment advice, and it does not consider the team, code or token unlocks. A missing input counts as a neutral 50.

About Espresso

What is Espresso (ESP)?

Espresso is a blockchain built to act as shared settlement infrastructure for other chains and applications. Its documentation describes it as a network for institutions and developers building payment networks, stablecoins, tokenized assets and similar financial applications. ESP is the network's token, introduced by the Espresso Foundation in February 2026 as the network moved toward permissionless proof of stake.

Espresso does not execute transactions itself. Each connected chain or application keeps its own execution environment and sequencer, and streams its transactions to Espresso, which finalizes their order. Other environments can then verify that finality using zero-knowledge proofs, without trusting an intermediary.

How Espresso works

Finality comes from HotShot, a consensus protocol in the HotStuff family of Byzantine fault tolerant designs. Reversing or censoring finalized ordering would require control of at least one-third of staked ESP. HotShot also uses erasure coding so that each node stores only a fraction of every block.

ESP has these roles in the network:

  • Staking, which secures the network and weights consensus.
  • Delegation, so holders who do not run a validator can back one and share in rewards after the validator's commission.
  • Payment of certain protocol fees.

The validator set is permissionless and consists of the top 100 validators by stake. Each integrated chain sets its own rules for fees, ordering, compliance and supported assets while sharing Espresso's settlement guarantees.

ESP supply and token design

ESP is an ERC-20 token on Ethereum. The Foundation published an initial supply of about 3.59 billion ESP and no fixed maximum supply. Staking rewards are designed to rise when participation is low and fall as more tokens are staked. The published allocation covers contributors, investors, future incentives, foundation operations, staking rewards, liquidity and a 10% community airdrop. Live circulating supply is shown in the market data on this page.

The Ethereum contract is 0x031de51f3e8016514bd0963d0b2ab825a591db9a. Confirm any address on the official site before interacting.

Official information is on espresso.foundation.

What to check before using ESP

  • The token and proof-of-stake network are recent, so track record and long-term demand for settlement services are still unproven.
  • Token vesting schedules for contributors and investors can add selling pressure as tokens unlock.
  • With no fixed maximum supply, holders depend on the staking and emission rules, which can change through governance.
  • Delegating to a validator carries slashing and performance risk, and staking can involve lock-up or unbonding periods.
  • Many similar tokens exist on smaller venues, so verify the contract address before buying.

Espresso market analysis

With a market capitalisation of $39.94 million, Espresso (ESP) is classed as a micro-cap asset and ranks #502 of 406 cryptocurrencies with a reported market cap on CryptoWave, larger than about 0.0% of them. It accounts for roughly under 0.01% of the combined tracked market value. Micro-cap assets are thinly traded in most cases: a modest order can move the price and spreads are often wide.

Over the last 24 hours roughly $639.4 thousand of ESP changed hands, equal to 1.60% of its market cap, which puts its trading volume ahead of about 0.0% of tracked assets. That is a quiet level of turnover, so large orders may meet limited depth. Its turnover ratio is higher than that of about 44% of tracked assets.

Price action: ESP moved −2.96% in 24 hours and −11.47% over 7 days. It underperformed Bitcoin by 0.78 percentage points over 24 hours and by 7.88 points over 7 days. Against the median tracked coin (behind by 0.96 points on the day and behind by 6.98 points on the week), it has been a relative laggard in recent sessions.

To overtake Siacoin (SC) just above it, Espresso would need to grow its market cap by about 0.3%; it is 0.2% larger than Irys (IRYS) just below. Its market cap is under 0.01% of Bitcoin's.
